North Park is an up-and-coming neighborhood located right next to downtown. It’s truly a unique neighborhood, and its residents make it inclusive and colorful, with an eclectic mix of gathering places, architecture, and land uses.
There are lots of interesting shops and activities in the area. For instance, you can find hip indie stores that sell vintage furniture, bikes, vinyl, and guitars as well as small, family-owned businesses that serve some of the most delicious bagels and ice cream.
The Royal Athletic Park, one of the two parks in the area, hosts the annual Rifflandia rock festival and baseball tournaments, while various music acts and junior hockey games draw people to the Save-On-Foods Memorial Center.
What’s great about the neighborhood is that it’s a mixed pot of cultures and ethnicities. Here, you’ll find diversity not just in religion and social status, but also in the housing and building styles.
North Park Village is the favorite of both residents and tourists since it is the ultimate foodie destination (with many restaurants and food trucks) and hosts a mix of art studios, live music venues, urban farms, and independently-owned businesses. At the heart of the neighborhood lies Central Park, where you can go for a dip in the Crystal Pool, play soccer or baseball, shoot some hoops with friends at the Steve Nash basketball court, play tennis, or exercise at the gym. For children, there’s a great playground that’ll keep them occupied for hours while you do your thing. When the weather is pleasant out, you’ll find lots of families on a picnic under the popular London Plane trees in Central Park.
The Memorial Center area is also nearby, which is just one of the many regional recreation facilities in the area striving to become more accessible for a number of community events. The area is also home to some other points of interest, including a few churches, a driving school, a nursery, the opera, a performing arts theater, and even a martial arts school.
