The Happy Herd Farm Sanctuary needed a website and digital presence that clearly reflected their compassionate mission, made it easy for visitors to book tours, donate, volunteer and sponsor animals, and invited stronger community engagement. Their previous online platform lacked streamlined donation flows, clear calls-to-action, mobile friendliness, and a story-driven design to connect emotionally with potential supporters.
This is your opportunity to accelerate your business growth.
The Happy Herd Farm Sanctuary was founded in 2012 and became a registered Canadian charity in August 2018. Located on four acres in Aldergrove, BC, they provide a forever home to rescued and abandoned farm animals including goats, sheep, pigs, turkeys, cows, chickens and cats. Their mission is not only to rescue and care for these animals, but to educate the public about compassionate lifestyle choices, animal welfare and support volunteering and sponsorship.
We designed and developed a website built around the sanctuary’s emotional narrative: the stories of the rescued animals, the sanctuary grounds, volunteer and tour experiences, and the path to sponsorship. The visual design uses warm natural tones, emotive imagery and user-friendly flow so visitors immediately understand “who we are” and “how you can help”.
We implemented intuitive donation and recurring giving modules, a sponsorship system for individual animals, and clear CTAs across the site. Donations trigger tax-receipt workflows, and sponsorship pages allow supporters to choose an animal and feel connected. This removed friction and boosted contributor engagement.
Because the sanctuary offers guided small-group tours (max 6 guests) by appointment only, we integrated a booking form, waiver link, tour-preparation instructions and volunteer signup system. This solution helped take administrative load off the sanctuary staff and improved user conversion from interest to booked visit or volunteer enrolment.
We structured the web content and metadata with SEO in mind for local and mission-driven keywords: “farm animal sanctuary BC”, “rescue farm animals Aldergrove”, “animal sponsorship Canada”, etc. We also emphasised the sanctuary’s unique character — the four-acre farm, diverse rescued residents and community focus — to increase reach, organic discovery and traffic from animal-loving audiences.

Stronger emotional connection on site: visitors clearly understand the sanctuary’s mission, residents and how to support.
Higher conversion for donations and sponsorships thanks to streamlined flows and clear CTAs.
Simplified operational workflow for tours and volunteers: booking and waiver integrated, less manual scheduling.
Improved online visibility for local search and mission-related queries, raising awareness of the sanctuary’s work.
The new digital platform for The Happy Herd Farm Sanctuary elevates their mission of compassion, rescue and education. By combining heartfelt storytelling, intuitive supporter journeys and efficient operational tools, the sanctuary is now better equipped to engage donors, volunteers and visitors — freeing them to focus on the animals and the message of kindness that underpins everything they do.
